Mike Bynum hired me to retouch, color correct and clean scans. He has refused to pay, he won't reply to letters or emails. He did pay for three other jobs, but not in full. He short paid each invoice. He owes me approximately $2,400 plus collection fees.

I wish I had pulled a Dunn and Bradstreet report on him before doing any business with him. If I had - then I would not have extended any credit to him.

If you look on Amazon you will find lots of books associated with Mike Bynum, lots of colleges and other big names. It's easy to be blinded by all of this and not take the normal precautions every one of us should when starting a new business relationship.

If you have (own or are affiliated with) a sports team and they just did something noteworthy you might want to have a book published about that teams accomplishment. A publisher might even approach you and negotiate a contract with you to get that book published. Carefully consider how the publisher gets paid for their services. I recommend that you pay the printing company directly and the publishers’ services are clearly defined and paid for separately. What could happen is the publisher might ask you to pay them at the last minute instead of the printer. If this happens the publisher may have renegotiated the price of printing and is going to pocket the difference and your organization will be out that money.

Here is a good question – Where is the letter?
